Position Overview:

The Facility Maintenance Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the Housekeeping Supervisor to ensure that the premises are kept in a pristine and hygienic state. This includes maintaining floors, walls, windows, and other related areas.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

License: Not required.

Experience: Previous janitorial experience in a long-term care environment or similar institutional setting is preferred.

Language Proficiency: Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical materials, and communicate effectively in English.

Mathematical Skills: Must be capable of performing basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and customer service skills are essential, along with a strong sense of empathy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform vacuuming and carpet cleaning according to established procedures and schedules.
  • Dust, mop, wax, and polish floors as per routine and deep cleaning schedules.
  • Wash windows regularly as part of maintenance duties.
  • Clean lighting fixtures routinely.
  • Sanitize wheelchairs, shower chairs, and other equipment according to the established schedule.
  • Empty and replace liners in waste containers, ensuring proper disposal of contents.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the dumpster area and ensure lids are secured.
  • Ensure all building entrances are kept clean on a daily basis.
  • Regularly clean janitorial closets and equipment.
  • Secure cleaning chemicals and janitorial supplies.
  • Report any maintenance needs to the Housekeeping Supervisor promptly.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and safety procedures.
  • Maintain courteous and cooperative communication with all facility personnel, residents, and visitors.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Participate in required in-service education and staff meetings.
