Program Overview

At HELP USA, we strive to provide comprehensive support to families in crisis. As a Family Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team approach to service. Your primary responsibility will be to assist families with mental health, domestic violence, and substance abuse counseling. You will also work closely with children who have experienced trauma and may have other special needs. Our goal is to fortify the strengths of each family and ensure positive outcomes for those we serve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete psychosocial assessments to identify the needs of each family.
  • Participate in our multidisciplinary team approach to service, working closely with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Assist families with mental health, domestic violence, and substance abuse counseling.
  • Work with children who have experienced trauma and may have other special needs.

Requirements
  • Current LMSW or LMHC license (minimum requirement).
  • Compassion and respect for parents and children who are experiencing homelessness.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, emotional/behavioral health, mental health, parent-child relationship family dynamics, and diagnostic classification.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), since many of our clients are native Spanish speakers.
