Job Description:

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Toxicology Specialist with expertise in poison information to join our team. In this critical role, you will provide logical and concise evaluations of potential poisonings and treatment recommendations to the public and/or healthcare professionals through direct telephone consultation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Triage incoming calls within 5 rings and assess human poisoning exposures by telephone consultation from the public and healthcare professionals.
  • Provide information regarding animal poisonings when available or refer callers to the National Animal Poison Control Center for management advice.
  • Ongoing phone call interactions include providing complete history on poisoning emergencies, obtaining substance information, patient medical history, and current condition.
  • Utilize Poison Control Center resources to provide accurate and timely information regarding poisoned patients and adhere to PCC protocols 100% of the time.
  • Determine immediate evaluation needs and refer callers to 911 if necessary.
  • Complete Toxicall charts for every call received, accurately document required information, and maintain HIPAA regulations as applicable.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field (RN or Pharmacist).
  • Clinical experience in a hospital setting, preferably in telephone triage.
  • Licensed Pharmacist (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - within 3 months (Required), or Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - within 3 months (Required).
