We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our surgical department. This individual will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic, providing exceptional patient care, and supporting our medical team in delivering high-quality services.

Job Summary

This Certified Medical Assistant position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying insurance coverage, obtaining precertification for referrals, scheduling procedures, and assisting with daily tasks to ensure quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain precertification for all referrals
  • Submit orders for imaging and obtain insurance approval
  • Schedule procedures with multiple hospitals and surgery centers using different software programs
  • Assist in obtaining medical clearance
  • Schedule preoperative and postoperative appointments as needed
  • Assist with busy phones, prepare surgical packets, and scanning into electronic health records (EHR)
  • Pharmacy call backs
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skill in assigned area and within scope of practice
  • Daily Organization-Monitors patient flow, physician schedules, and completes daily tasks to ensure quality and meet service standards
  • Able to respond to changing circumstances and prioritize patient needs
  • Maintains appropriate supply levels
  • Copay/Insurance collections
  • Billing coding
  • Documents patient care events in a thorough and accurate manner
  • Partners with physicians to continuously learn and expand clinical knowledge base
  • Organizes and completes daily requirements and responsibilities
  • Telephone Message Management - Ensures prompt and efficient return of messages
  • Ensures readiness of reports and information to maximize patient visit
  • Knowledge of insurance, utilization review, scheduling requirements, and support of front desk responsibilities
  • All other related duties assigned
Requirements

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates must possess the following:

  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • High School Diploma
  • Certification of completion of a Medical Assistant program
  • CPR Certification

  • Demonstrate typing skills proficiency by: Using a keyboard, required to type proficiently and accurately; Have the ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute with 0-2 errors; Have the ability to proofread work
