About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Critical Care Physician to join our team at the University of Miami Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the advancement of our medical programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the care of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit, utilizing your expertise to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each patient.
  • Maintain pulmonary support for patients, ensuring the safe and effective use of ventilators and life support systems.
  • Formulate treatment plans, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, and therapeutic measures, always prioritizing the highest standards of patient care.
  • Develop post-discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal outcomes.
  • Order appropriate laboratory tests according to practice guidelines, staying up-to-date with the latest medical research and technologies.
  • Provide supervision of medical services, ensuring the quality, safety, and effectiveness of patient care within the scope of the division.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an appropriate patient plan of care, taking into account the patient's overall health status and individual needs.
  • Assess the severity of patient conditions, determining the most effective course of action and directing patients to the appropriate medical plan and assessment.
  • Actively participate in quality assurance programs and peer review activities, contributing to the continuous improvement of our medical programs.
  • Determine required referrals based on level of urgency and patient needs, ensuring timely access to specialist care when necessary.
  • Exert final medical judgment in all issues of healthcare, making informed decisions that prioritize patient well-being and safety.
  • Regularly review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention, ensuring that each patient receives the highest level of care and support.
  • Consult with Medical Director and other professionals as needed regarding patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic, fostering collaboration and coordination across our healthcare team.
  • Oversee assigned allied health professional medical staff and nursing clinical teams, providing guidance and leadership to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
  • Assist in resolving complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients, addressing their concerns in a compassionate and responsive manner.
  • Develop priorities for growth of clinical programs to meet patient needs, driving innovation and excellence in our medical services.
  • Enhance the quality of care and implement innovations in care, staying ahead of the curve in medical advancements and best practices.
  • Supplement departmental and research efforts, contributing to the advancement of our medical knowledge and expertise.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
  • Document all services in patient medical records for compliance and regulatory adherence, accurately and thoroughly recording all relevant information.

Requirements:

  • Physician with MD or DO degree, possessing a strong foundation in medical principles and practices.
  • Board certified with medical license, demonstrating expertise and competence in critical care medicine.
  • Board eligible with medical license, showing a commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications, indicating a high level of skill and proficiency in emergency response and patient care.

Salary Range: $250,000 - $350,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
