Overview: The City of Olympia is seeking a seasoned law enforcement professional to serve as a Senior Police Operations Manager. This critical role plays a key part in the management and administration of major functional areas within the Police Department.

Salary: $182,993.76 per year

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual to manage the overall direction and coordination of a major functional area or division within the Police Department. As a Senior Police Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Department maintains a high level of accountability and transparency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct staff to engage in service and activities that support the Department's Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Manage and oversee employee conduct to ensure compliance with laws, Department policies, training standards, and collective bargaining agreements
  • Develop and implement crime prevention programs and strategies aligned with crime data
  • Represent the Department at meetings with government entities, community groups, and other City Departments
  • Prioritize and manage Department engagement efforts to improve relationships with community groups
  • Assist and mentor sergeants and other staff members
  • Compile, analyze, and recommend Department actions for the implementation of crime prevention programs
  • Serve as a Community liaison for different sectors of the community

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree
  • Two years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience as a first-level supervisor or greater with a general authority law enforcement agency
  • A valid Washington State Driver's License
  • The ability to obtain and maintain Peace Officer Certification with the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission
  • Successful completion of a background investigation, psychological, and polygraph examinations
