Job Title: Utility Forester/Contract Arborist - Vegetation Management Program Coordinator

This is a challenging role that requires planning, scheduling, reporting, and project management for utility right-of-way vegetation management programs throughout our operating region.

About the Job:
  • Assess vegetation conditions in right-of-ways to determine required maintenance activities and develop bid package maps and work manifests.
  • Obtain permission from property owners to trim or remove trees and apply herbicides, arrange access to properties, and discuss responsibility for any apparent property damage.
  • Research easement and land rights, meet with landowners to explain vegetation management work, and mark works in the field where required.
  • Respond to public concerns and questions about the work, assist in developing public relations materials, and document work activity using GIS-equipped computer and custom work planning software.
  • Inspect work completed by contractors for compliance with utility specifications, assist in managing contractors during storm restoration operations, and provide support and assistance on special projects as assigned by the utility.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Sciences/Management, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred, but an Associate's Degree is required.
  • ISA Certified Arborist or the ability to obtain certification within one year, ISA Utility Specialist is preferred.
  • Two years of applicable work experience are preferred, and a valid driver's license is required.
