A Medical Laboratory Technician at Avera St. Luke's Hospital plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care by performing clinical laboratory tests and procedures.

About the Role

  • The Medical Laboratory Technician performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures, and related duties.
  • Utilizes scientific principles as well as technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day laboratory technical operations, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance and corrective action, test result correlation, and clinical laboratory related continuing education.

Requirements

  • An Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited two-year-college program or technical school is required.
  • Six months to one year of related experience or training preferred.
  • Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician from the ASCP, AMT, or equivalent required within 12 months of hire.

Benefits and Perks

  • Varied shift schedule: 8 am - 6pm, 7:30 am - 4pm, Noon to 8pm, or 2:30 pm to 11pm; May fill in on overnight shift from 7pm to 7am as needed.
  • Rotate every 3rd weekend/holiday.
  • Full Time; 72 hours every 2 weeks.
