Financial Analyst I

The University of Southern California's Finance Department is seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst I to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial modeling, reporting, and analysis, as well as budget and forecasting. The Financial Analyst I will perform extensive data reconciliation, consolidation, and analysis for large quantities of financial data to create financial reports.

  • Assist with monitoring financial activity at the school, including budgets, reconciling accounts, forecasting, and month/year-end process management.
  • Develop and administer budgets for recruitment funding at the school, tracking and reporting on funding and expenditures.
  • Evaluate and analyze school-wide financial data, producing regular and ad-hoc financial reports, and developing conclusions and recommendations.
  • Reconcile financial data from multiple sources and make correcting adjustments to ensure alignment.
  • Liaison with programmers and departments to build reports and applications in the university's Business Intelligence reporting and applications.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Prior experience in financial and budget reporting.
  • Ability to follow through with assigned tasks within established time-frames and with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of government and fund accounting, clinical revenue, database, data analytics, and university financial systems.

The hourly rate range for this position is $42.52. The University of Southern California considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations when extending an offer of employment.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree

Minimum Experience: 1 year

Minimum Field of Expertise: Business education or closely related field. Experience in financial analysis and reporting with knowledge of computer simulation and forecasting techniques.
