Inpatient Pharmacist

We are seeking a dedicated Inpatient Pharmacist to join our dynamic hospital pharmacy team in Louisville, KY. This is a 13-week contract with potential for temp-to-hire, offering an exciting opportunity for those with experience in hospital pharmacy settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Order Verification: Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of prescribed medications, reviewing patient-specific factors such as allergies, drug interactions, and dosing requirements.
- Supervision of Pharmacy Technicians: Oversee pharmacy technicians to ensure proper preparation, labeling, and dispensing of medications, and assist in resolving any issues or concerns.
- Pharmacokinetic Monitoring: Manage drug therapy for patients by adjusting doses based on pharmacokinetics (e.g., monitoring vancomycin, aminoglycosides) and other clinical data to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
- Consultation with Physicians and Nurses: Provide clinical advice to the healthcare team on medication therapy, addressing any questions or concerns related to drug interactions, side effects, and patient care plans.
- Medication Therapy Management: Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to the development of treatment plans for complex cases, including critical care, chronic disease management, and acute care interventions.
- Compliance and Safety: Maintain compliance with hospital protocols, state regulations, and Joint Commission standards to ensure the safe and effective use of medications.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Active KY Pharmacist License
- PharmD preferred
- Previous experience or exposure to inpatient pharmacy practice is preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital environment
