Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Plumbing Operations Manager to lead our plumbing operations team at Sheet Metal, Inc.

About the Role:

This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the installation of plumbing systems in commercial buildings. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in project supervision, team management, and budget control.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the installation of plumbing systems in commercial buildings, ensuring compliance with blueprints, specifications, and building codes.
  • Lead and coordinate a team of plumbers, subcontractors, and other tradespeople, assigning tasks and ensuring quality of work meets company standards.
  • Accurately predict and allocate manpower required for each phase of the project, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet deadlines without overstaffing.
  • Create and manage project schedules, ensuring work is completed on time and in coordination with other trades, adjusting timelines as necessary to accommodate delays or changes.
  • Ensure installations meet both company and industry standards, identifying and resolving any issues with workmanship or adherence to project specifications.
  • Oversight of material and equipment procurement, handling, and distribution, ensuring materials are available when needed and managing inventory to prevent delays.
  • Enforce company and OSHA safety regulations on-site, conducting regular safety meetings and ensuring workers are following all safety protocols to avoid accidents.
  • Track project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment, ensuring work stays within allocated budget, identifying areas for cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Maintain open communication with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders, providing updates on progress and addressing concerns promptly.
  • Closely work with other trade superintendents to ensure plumbing work is aligned with other construction activities, avoiding conflicts in scheduling and space use.
  • Address on-site challenges such as unforeseen plumbing issues, weather delays, or conflicts with other trades, developing solutions quickly to keep the project on track.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing multiple commercial mechanical projects.
  • Prior experience within estimating commercial plumbing projects.
  • Possession of a valid Alaska driver's license and satisfactory driver record.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending plans, specifications, blueprints, proposals, and other project-related documents.
  • Computer literacy, including the ability to navigate construction reporting applications.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies:
    • Proficiency in interpreting/understanding drawings, technical articles, specifications, and blueprints.
    • Strong mathematical aptitude.
    • Exceptional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to effectively multitask and maintain organizational efficiency.
    • Skill in managing projects, subcontractors, and vendors.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

Involves physical work, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds.

Physically able to stand, sit, move, squat, walk, and climb during the shift.

Work may include moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises

Salary: Up to $65.00 per hour DOE
