Job Title: Animal Shelter Manager

Join the City of Valdez, AK team as an Animal Shelter Manager, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the animal shelter. This role involves supervising and providing basic care for animals, ensuring shelter employees follow proper policy and procedures, and overseeing adoptions and foster programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the animal shelter's daily operations, including cleaning, feeding, and caring for animals.
  • Supervise and train shelter staff and volunteers, ensuring they follow proper procedures and policies.
  • Oversee adoptions, foster programs, and other shelter-related activities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve shelter operations and animal welfare.
  • Collaborate with city departments, outside agencies, and customers to achieve shelter goals.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years of college or related experience working with animals.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license and ability to maintain it.
