About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our Endocrinology Clinic team at Duke Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and support our medical staff in delivering exceptional patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist medical and nursing staff with various tasks, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Perform administrative duties, such as answering telephones, updating patient records, and scheduling appointments.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician and authorize drug refills as needed.
  • Provide patient education and promote understanding of their care plan.
Requirements
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA is required.
  • BLS Certification is also required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required, and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred.
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting is required for CMA II and CMA III levels.
