About the Job: We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team. This is a Safety Sensitive Position, requiring work on project sites, including federal projects.

Job Description: As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting with contract management, change order preparation, and project scheduling updating. You will also assist superintendents with resource allocation and coordination, estimating, and material pricing/project buyout.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in project safety programs, observations, and audits.
  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with project-related tasks.
  • Track and report quantities of work performed and understand associated costs.
  • Communicate productivities to field staff.
  • Understand and communicate contract scope to field staff.
  • Serve as liaison and ensure communication between the field and office.
  • Act as primary engineer and contract administrator on small and mid-size projects.
  • Identify and promote changes to improve productivities and quality on the project.
  • Effectively communicate with Project Owner/Designer/Architect/Engineering regarding project schedule, issues, and activities occurring on the project.
  • Develop RFI's, work plans, and submittals for the project.
  • Assist in monthly financial reporting projections.
  • Develop extra work or change order negotiation pricing.
  • Develop time and material final pricing submittals.
  • Draft purchase orders and subcontract agreements for review by the Project Manager.
  • Assist with CPM schedule development and maintenance.
  • Maintain as-built drawings with assistance from field staff.
  • Perform project-specific tasks assigned by higher-level manager.
  • Assist with new project estimating tasks; take-off, scope reviews, subcontractor and supplier solicitation, new work pricing.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (particularly Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to new challenges.
  • Must be willing and able to travel or relocate as necessary for projects.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in a related field, such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Management. Completion of at least one internship with a heavy civil, foundation, or steel erection contractor or equivalent work experience.

Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is $85,000-$110,000 based on location and industry standards.
