Job Summary

The System Manager, Specialty Pharmacy will play a key role in driving growth and development within the Specialty Pharmacy market at CommonSpirit Health.

This role will work closely with interdisciplinary leaders to foster collaboration and alignment, while improving pharmacy operations and shared partnerships within the organization.

The position requires a strong understanding of working within a matrixed organization, as well as the unique challenges of the Specialty Pharmacy industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee specialty pharmacy staff and workflow, mail-order services, specialty pharmacy inventory management, billing and charge capture reconciliation, assurance of continuous quality of services, medication safety, regulatory compliance, customer service, vendor relations, and the financial performance for the specialty program (budgetary and profitability).
  • Ensure adherence to all pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement practices that promote safe and accurate drug distribution, management of controlled substances, and managing quality improvement initiatives in the Dignity Health Specialty Pharmacy program.
  • Collaborate with clinic leaders, physicians, and other stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure appropriate use of medications and reduce the risk of drug-related problems.
  • Ensure compliance and implementation of all national, state, and local regulations related to ambulatory pharmacy services.
  • Responsible for the development, integration, coordination, and ongoing support for the purchasing and stocking of all appropriate medications and supplies associated with providing patient care.
  • Participate in planning and preparation of the annual operating budget and overall growth and business strategies of the organization.
  • Oversee the scheduling and day-to-day activities of the specialty pharmacy staff and ensure that the staffing model is conducive to meeting and achieving departmental and organizational goals.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic development and implementation across a matrixed organization.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in managing retail operations or specialty/disease state-specific pharmaceutical management.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Active Pharmacist License in good standing in Arizona with the ability to be multi-state licensed.
  • Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) eligible.
  • Experience with personnel management and knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to manage all aspects of pharmacy ambulatory/outpatient services as it relates to specialty pharmacy services.
