Innovation
  • Prepare technical papers and presentations at national or regional aviation industry technical conferences discussing new technical or improved approaches to aviation-related challenges.
Technical Development
  • Become regionally known as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more aviation-related specialty design criteria and become a senior aviation technical resource to Regional HDR offices.
  • Develop an intermediate understanding of FAA, UFC, NFPA, and applicable state and local requirements for multiple geographies/clients.
  • Prepare scopes of work, effort estimates, schedules, and workload projections for aviation projects.
  • Develop an intermediate understanding of all phases of aviation project development.
Technical Talent Identification & Career Journey
  • Recognize peers in aviation fields in other (external) organizations and identify potential talent to attract to the firm.
  • Actively identify and attract aviation talent to the firm from competitors, regulatory agencies, etc.
  • Have an active leadership/participatory role in aviation staff development or training activities via Aviation working groups.
  • Mentor junior staff on technical issues.
Process & Tool Application & Development
  • Lead project document production, including coordination with technical and production staff, including subconsultants.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement the use of new or improve existing methodologies or technical tools to improve technical design efficiency for use throughout the Aviation Market.
  • Lead staff (including subconsultants) conducting field reviews to determine construction compliance with contract documents.
  • Oversee QA/QC processes by applying QMP procedures.
Marketing Support
  • Assist in developing the technical strategy of the project pursuit.
  • Lead the proposal technical writing effort of project pursuits.
  • Oversee preparation of technical write-ups of completed projects.
  • Provide editing/tailoring of resumes to project pursuits.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Preference given to local candidates.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with Airfield Planning and Design.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement the use of new or improve existing methodologies or technical tools to improve technical design efficiency for use throughout the Aviation Market.
  • Overall strong understanding of airfield design.
  • Strong technical background and experience in designing several aspects of airfields.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)

Baltimore, MD: $117,527 - $167,895

Fulton, MD: $123,123 - $175,890

Washington, DC: $134,316 - $191,880
