Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, Nephrology

The Health Science Advisor will report directly to the Ecosystem Lead, collaborating with cross-functional colleagues in Medical, Market Access, and Patient Support under established guardrails. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for healthcare provider customers, requiring expertise in complex on-label information and competitive landscapes.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop territory-specific business plans with ecosystem leads, incorporating strategies and tactics to increase disease-state awareness, implement diagnostic approaches, identify opportunities, and meet sales goals in rare disease spaces.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in matrix environments, involving patient support, medical science liaisons, patient access teams, and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Efficiently utilize available tools, technology, and resources, including peer-to-peer education and cross-functional partnerships, to address unmet clinical educational needs.
  • Navigate and identify opportunities through the dynamic healthcare landscape, encompassing academic institutions, IDNs, ACOs, private practices, and community practices.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of diseases, therapeutics, and clinical/scientific areas.
  • Employ a consultative selling approach, leveraging technical and solution-oriented techniques to meet the needs of healthcare professionals treating ADPKD patients.
  • Manage the full sales lifecycle across various product portfolios.
  • Attend conferences, societies, and industry events.
Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of sales experience in rare disease, oncology, hospital, or renal disease, preferred.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, gain insights, drive pull-through, and lead live engagements with customers in local business environments.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding financial and/or quantitative targets, as well as qualitative goals.
  • Success in fast-paced, highly competitive marketplaces.
  • Strategic thinking to create customer/account engagement plans, taking a dynamic and collaborative approach to maximize business outcomes.
  • A self-starter with expertise in Clinical Selling, Account Management, Problem Solving, Matrix Collaboration, and Omni-Channel engagement.
  • Intellectual curiosity and ongoing awareness of trends in their area of expertise, utilizing knowledge and insights to positively impact business results.
  • Cultivate partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, incorporating diverse views into decision-making processes within complex healthcare environments.
  • Expert knowledge of marketplaces, competitors, industries, and matrix functional activities/plans to anticipate and manage business opportunities and challenges.
  • Foster clinical dialogue compelling customers to act on behalf of their patients, engaging entire accounts to understand obstacles and provide solutions.
  • Position Otsuka as a leader among Nephrology stakeholders and specialty customers, targeting large group practices and community practices.

$102,101 - $145,970 plus incentive opportunity: The estimated salary range represents a typical starting salary for candidates hired to perform this role. Other elements may be used to determine actual salary, such as job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in this position.
