Job Summary

Memphis-Shelby County Schools is seeking a dynamic Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in and meet the TDOE eligibility criteria in the areas of language impairment and speech impairment.

Key Responsibilities

Assess students' communication skills for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility, and developing recommendations for treatment.
Develop treatment plans, interventions, and educational materials to minimize the adverse impact of communication disorders in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Instruct assigned support staff on communicative disorders, use of assistive devices, and feeding techniques, and implement prescribed treatment plans.
Interpret medical reports within the scope of Speech/Language Pathologist's experience and goals to provide information and ensure that treatment/intervention plans are effective.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, including progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, and required documentation.
Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and gather information, and ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders, Speech and Hearing Language Impaired, Speech Pathology, or a related degree.
Master's degree in Communicative Disorders, Speech and Language Impaired, Speech Pathology, or any related degree in the field of speech & language preferred.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association.

Working Conditions

The Speech and Language Pathologist will work in a school setting, providing services to students with communication disorders. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
