Seeking a Medical Lab Specialist to join our team at Prisma Health in Simpsonville, SC.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist with excellent analytical skills to conduct routine and stat laboratory tests, following established standards and practices. As a Medical Lab Specialist, you will be responsible for operating instruments and equipment accurately, performing analyses with precision and accuracy, evaluating results, and reporting values correctly.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory tests and analyses using appropriate procedures, ensuring precision and accuracy of results.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and instruments according to established protocol and quality control measures.
  • Evaluate test results, identify abnormalities, and report critical values according to laboratory policy.
  • Maintain accurate records, documents, and reports, including specimen processing, test results, and quality control data.
  • Instruct new employees, students, and residents on laboratory procedures, techniques, and theory.
  • Restock supplies, maintain a clean and organized work area, and document receipt and opening of supplies.
  • Review pending logs, worksheets, and other documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain patient safety by adhering to laboratory biosafety levels, universal precautions, and available safety equipment.
  • Prioritize tasks efficiently, use time effectively, and report results in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Technology or Science from an accredited program.
  • ASCOP or AMT certification or registration is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
  • Data entry skills and ability to maintain accurate records.

Work Environment:

This is a part-time day shift position, working approximately 20 hours per week at the Hillcrest/Simpsonville Medical Campus. We offer competitive pay and benefits, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
