Senior Software Architect

Amazon is seeking a talented and motivated software engineer to design, develop, and implement innovative capabilities across highly-scalable robotic systems. As a Senior Software Architect, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing software that controls the movement of hundreds of thousands of robotic drives within Amazon's Robotics fulfillment network. Our team's software is at the heart of ensuring Amazon's retail customers get their packages on time.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, design, and implement robotic applications and infrastructure.
Influence the team's strategy and contribute to long-term vision and roadmap.
Work with stakeholders across organization to iterate on design and implementation.
Maintain high standards by participating in reviews, designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and creating mechanisms for continuous improvement.
About the Team
As a Robotic Movement software engineer, you will design and deliver cloud-based, high-performance software that controls Amazon's world-wide fleet of mobile robots. The service-based software architecture is mainly written in Java and built using AWS products. Our team balances building new services to meet the needs of our growing customer base and extending existing services by developing new algorithms or by optimizing application performance.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Strong background in algorithms and system design used to solve complex problems for highly-scalable systems
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
M.S./Ph.D. in Science or related field
Strong background in algorithms and hands-on experience in developing algorithms for highly-scalable systems
Experience in autonomous path planning or navigational solutions/algorithms
Experience developing in Web Services - AWS
Robotics expertise with hardware and firmware and how it interacts with the . Robotics movement, , etc.
Experience with mentoring other engineers.
Experience developing cloud services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability
Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and test in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated and able to solve problems independently
Strong communication skills, ability to work well in a team environment
