Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Wave Solder Machine Operator to join our team at Virtex dba Altron LLC. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and running jobs through the wave solder, wash, shave, and depaneling processes according to customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and understand technical documents such as customer blueprints, standard operating procedures, and other related documents.
  • Set up wave solder machines and run jobs until completed, according to customer requirements.
  • Ensure components are positioned correctly on the circuit board prior to loading into the wave solder machine, making any necessary adjustments.
  • Identify and recognize solder and component defects at the end of the wave solder machine.
  • Load and unload printed circuit boards through the in-line cleaners according to department training guidelines and customer specifications, performing cleanliness testing as required.
  • Keep boards separate according to assembly, job number, and the department from which they were received.
  • Use and understand a caliper for lead length measurements when setting up lead trimming machines according to customer or IPC specifications.
  • Remove loose leads from shaved-printed circuit boards by brushing them off with applied force.
  • Set up appropriate depaneling equipment and depanel printed circuit boards according to customer requirements.
  • Maintain daily times worked on specific jobs by scanning in/out of the computer and/or keeping daily timesheets when requested. Perform other record-keeping as required by the department.
  • Perform maintenance as required and maintain a clean work area.
  • Use wave solder machine, carriers, weights, basic hand tools, thermometer, caliper (micrometer), in-line cleaning machine, air hose, metal baskets, lead trimmers, DE paneling equipment, and computers.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment by following safety policies and procedures, reporting any safety concerns, and participating in any scheduled stretch breaks.
  • Actively participate in quality efforts and support the Virtex Quality Policy through accountable action.
  • Be responsible for compliance to the Virtex Quality Management System and other regulatory and statutory requirements as required by the customer.
  • Act as an authorized agent to stop production when nonconformances are noted.
  • Accept responsibility for continuous on-the-job training by actively participating in training put on by designated Virtex employees and/or any outside service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 6 months related work experience.
  • 1 year wave solder experience, running and maintaining large machines, or 1-year electronics experience preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Due to ITAR restrictions, US citizenship or a green card is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents such as standard operating procedures and other related documents.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to work with small or large components.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 10 to 20 pounds, occasionally up to 80 pounds with aides.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Must have good eyesight, as well as the ability to adjust focus and differentiate between colors.
  • Flexibility to work in other departments or extra hours when needed, including weekends.
