We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Physician Scientist to join our team at the Stravitz-Sanyal Institute for Liver Disease and Metabolic Health at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia.

About the Position:

The successful candidate will have a unique blend of clinical expertise in gastroenterology and hepatology, combined with skills in scientific investigation and analysis. This individual will be responsible for conducting translational studies of chronic liver diseases, with a focus on developing research linking basic and clinical sciences.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Research: Focus on discovering biomedical innovation, lifesaving therapies, and disease prevention strategies that can be immediately translated to clinical care.
  • Teaching: Provide teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows in both their clinical and research roles.
  • Clinical: Provide clinical services in the Hepatology clinics at VCUHS; participate in the inpatient management of patients with liver conditions.

Requirements:

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
  • Basic Science and/or Clinical Research experience and dedication to pursue a Physician Scientist track.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU Health.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer an estimated salary range of $200,000-$250,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
