As a Regional Estimator for E2 Optics, you will play a vital role in supporting sales by developing cost estimates for the installation of structured cabling projects. This involves creating detailed estimates that include all necessary materials, labor, and engineering costs to deliver profitable jobs that meet or exceed customer requirements.

Responsibilities
  • You will work closely with the national estimation manager to cover work requests in the local market and may be utilized as a resource for national work requests when needed.
  • As a local presence, you will perform site walks for local projects, requiring frequent travel within your designated area.
  • You are expected to work in an office environment, adhering to company and client worksite policies.

Your duties will include:

  • Responding to bid specifications by writing scope of work, developing cost estimates, predicting project duration, and including contingencies.
  • Estimating material requirements to deliver bid specifications.
  • Providing complete project engineering and estimating labor.
  • Attending site-walk and pre-bid meetings to document site conditions for accurate cost estimates.
  • Ensuring timely completion of bids and meeting deadlines.
  • Liaising between sales, project management, and operations to effectively transition projects and streamline communications.
  • Recommending vendors and materials for optimal solutions, competitive pricing, and proper lead times.
  • Reading and understanding blueprints.
  • Maintaining working relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Staying up-to-date on other technologies as directed by customer demand.
  • Contributing to product selection research, configuration standards, and best practices.
Requirements
  • A minimum of five years' experience estimating large-scale commercial construction projects, including industrial, healthcare facilities, commercial structured cable projects, and data centers.
  • Structured Cabling/Low Voltage industry experience is essential.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam for plans and takeoffs is required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • The ability to design, engineer, estimate, and develop written and graphic representations of proposed solutions using company-provided software resources.
  • The capacity to multitask and meet strict deadlines.
  • Impeccable problem-solving skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
  • The ability to read and understand blueprints of building floor plans and construction designs.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong ability to work in teams and foster confidence in others.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role requires working in an indoor business office and construction environment. The standard work environment has a moderate noise level. You will regularly sit, talk or hear, use hands, stoop, kneel, bend, rotate, push, pull, reach with hands and arms on intermittent to regular basis daily. You will frequently stand and walk. The job requires lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently. Occasional travel by conventional means, including aircraft, motor vehicle, and the like, may be required within the region and to other locations as needed.
