Columbia Health seeks a highly skilled Physician - Columbia University | New York City, NY to join our team as a Medical Director for Primary Care. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality and compassionate care to our patients.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced physician who can oversee the care of a panel of primary care patients, attending to their perceived problems by reviewing care received from other healthcare providers, laboratory data, and secure messages from Medical Services providers. You will be responsible for ordering tests as needed to ensure maintenance of health and appropriate management of chronic medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, culturally sensitive, and efficient patient care through the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute, episodic care, and chronic illness and injury, follow-up of labs, radiological/other studies, and referrals.
- Provide direct clinical care with a significant emphasis on health maintenance and preventive measures, performing complete physical exams at a frequency appropriate to age and gender, and ordering appropriate laboratory, x-ray, tests, and other diagnostic and medical procedures.
- Manage the appropriate referral of patients to other health care providers for specialized care, balancing patient needs and Medical Services guidance.
- Educate patients based on age, gender, psychosocial and cultural context, and overall health of the patient on illness or its complications, and on ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- 5+ years of experience in primary care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Salary Information
The estimated salary for this position is $150,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience.
