Job Overview

The Pre-Admission Testing Registered Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring our patients receive the necessary preoperative assessments and instructions to prepare them for surgery.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for initiating preoperative assessments and care, documenting and communicating patient history, providing preoperative instructions and education, and discussing post-operative follow-up care with patients.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preoperative assessments and care to pre-surgical patients using the nursing process
  • Document and communicate patient history, ensuring accurate and timely information
  • Provide preoperative instructions and education to patients, addressing their needs and concerns
  • Discuss and arrange post-operative follow-up care with patients, promoting a smooth transition to recovery
  • Review physician orders to ensure necessary tests and preoperative labs are completed, maintaining patient safety
  • Evaluate and screen patients for possible complications, taking proactive measures to prevent adverse events
  • Collaborate with the surgeon, office nursing staff, triage, scheduling, and OR staff as needed, ensuring seamless communication and care
  • Assess patients' conditions and address their needs before and during surgery, applying clinical judgment and expertise
  • Adhere to ASC policies and procedures, upholding our commitment to quality and safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing and Administrator, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current licensure to practice in the State of Texas, successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course; ACLS required and PALS preferred
  • Two years' experience in perioperative nursing preferred, with a strong foundation in clinical skills and patient care
Working Conditions

Our Medical Office environment and Ambulatory Surgery Center provide a dynamic and challenging work setting.

As a Pre-Admission Testing Registered Nurse, you will be required to work as scheduled, with good visual acuity and accurate color vision.

The ability to lift and transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds, push a gurney with a 150-pound patient, stand, walk, stop, kneel, crouch, and crawl are essential job requirements.

Additionally, you must be able to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement, and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size, and shape.

Lead apron use is also required in this role.
