Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Medical Scheduler Coordinator to join our team at Bryan Health.

About the Role:

  • This is a full-time opportunity that requires a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a minimum of three years of medical/surgical experience, including extensive experience in hospital/health operations and general background in all areas of nursing practice.

Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate access to Medical Center services by securing medical necessity/diagnosis and patient demographic and financial information from physicians, physician staff, health care facilities, patients, and patient representatives.
  2. Collect and analyze pertinent clinical data as related to procedures scheduled, intervening to prevent problems that could result in adverse patient outcomes or delayed/cancelled procedures.
  3. Contribute to an efficient and effective work environment through activities including professional communication and documentation, preceptoring, and/or resourcing of others.
  4. Perform multi-resource appointment scheduling for inpatient/outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic services received from physicians and/or physician staff.
  5. Attain patient information including medical necessity/diagnosis, demographics, and pertinent clinical information as related to procedures scheduled.
  6. Collaborate with physician office staff to educate patients/patient representatives on preparation and understanding of scheduled procedures.
  7. Review and evaluate outpatient orders received from physicians and/or physician staff, using clinical judgment and critical thinking to follow-up on appropriateness and completeness of physician orders.
  8. Document verbal physician orders.
  9. Determine the appropriateness of level of care and admission status, notifying appropriate departments based on assessment of patient needs.
  10. Keep the Patient Service Center and Scheduling Manager informed of issues related to procedures.

Requirements:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence.
  • Minimum of three years medical/surgical experience, including extensive experience in hospital/health operations and general background in all areas of nursing practice.
