Sr. Credit Officer Job Description

The Symicor Group is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Credit Officer to join our team in Boston, MA. As a key member of our bank client's leadership team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight for credit quality, loan operations, and loan compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the credit team and support loan products, policies, and procedures to ensure the overall quality of the Bank's lending portfolio.
  • Ensure high-quality credit analysis on individual loans, portfolio stress testing, and calculating monthly allocations to the Loan Loss Reserve (ALLL/CECL).
  • Participate in the bank's leadership team and serve on various committees, including Officer's Loan Committee and Pricing Committee.
  • Assist in meeting annual loan growth goals assigned by senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate external loan audits, including regulatory examinations.
  • Review large and complex loans prior to their submission to the Officer's Loan Committee, making recommendations on loan structure, terms, and pricing to minimize credit risk.
  • Organize and distribute credit information covering loan quality trends, growth indicators, and loan product concentrations, working closely with the credit team to review economic trends and assess their impact on the Bank's loan portfolio.
  • Manage stress testing of the loan portfolio using the Bank's primary loan origination system software.
  • Ensure individual loans are risk-rated correctly when reviewing loans for Officer's Loan Committee approval.
  • Supervise the Bank's special assets area, curing weak credits, collecting such credits, or moving undesirable credits, and assist in compiling loan status reports and implementing respective loan action plans.
  • Prepare a report re-aging the status of the Bank's special assets for submittal to the Board of Directors for review.
  • Present and discuss loan information submitted to the Board of Directors for review, including the ALLL/CECL calculation, graded loan reports, and other loan quality information and trends.
  • Assist in maintaining relationships with the SBA and supporting requests with various guaranteed loan programs when it strategically benefits the bank and the borrower.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related discipline.
  • Ten or more years of experience in credit at a bank or financial institution.
  • Strong credit leadership background in CRE, C&I, SBA 7a, and SBA 504.
  • Ability to monitor, analyze, and report key credit and portfolio metrics.
  • Advanced knowledge of related state and federal lending compliance regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to write effective credit write-ups and memorandums for lenders.
  • Ability to make credit decisions or recommendations based on industry credit practices, Bank policy and procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong leadership ability, written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
