Job Overview

SPEC Services Inc. is expanding its engineering services to energy utilities, midstream, renewable energy, and carbon sequestration clients in Northern California. We are seeking an experienced Pipeline Project Engineer to lead dynamic engineering and design teams on diverse and challenging projects for gas utility and midstream transportation clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Orchestrate the execution of pipeline engineering and design projects, ensuring successful completion and developing working relationships with clients.
  • Lead pipeline engineering and design teams in project scope development, budgeting, and scheduling; proposal preparation; feasibility studies and preliminary design reports; and directing and managing multiple projects.
  • Conduct effective planning, efficient execution, and successful project completion, delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Assist in staffing decisions, assigning work, and ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Manage sub-consultants to ensure adequate coordination between offices and manage their work product.
  • Act as a capable leader and representative in dealing with clients and directing work.
  • Ensure expected results, including excellence in quality of work, client communication and satisfaction, efficient staff utilization, client satisfaction for ongoing referrals, and excellence of office reputation, contract management, billing collection, and project profitability.

Requirements:

  • 4 years of pipeline engineering experience, with gas utility experience in California strongly preferred.
  • B.S. Degree in engineering or related field required.
  • Strong familiarity with DOT 192 and ASME B31.8.
  • Strong familiarity and direct experience with pipeline repair methods.
  • Experience in consulting or EPC with design and engineering capability preferred.
  • Professional Engineering license preferred.
  • Project Management certification preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members in verbal and written form.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including basic macros and PivotTables, preferred.
  • Familiarity with permitting projects in municipalities preferred.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred.
  • Pipeline construction and field experience preferred.
  • Local candidates preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.

Location and Work Schedule:

  • Applicant must be within the Greater Bay area and able to commute to Walnut Creek for on-call support and client communication.
  • The position has a flexible 9/80 work schedule with a remote work location.
  • Work will be primarily in Northern California, with approximately 10% travel to client project sites and the corporate office in Southern California.

Salary Range: $95k-$140k Annually
