Gastroenterology Specialist

As a Gastroenterologist at Northwest Community Healthcare, you will provide comprehensive physician services to assess, diagnose, plan, and treat patients with gastrointestinal health issues or injuries. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver timely, high-quality, customer-focused care that utilizes resources effectively to optimize patient outcomes.
The selected candidate will join a team of 8 Gastroenterologists and 1 GI Hospitalist, along with 3 Advanced Practice Providers providing inpatient coverage. You will have the opportunity to work in a robust specialty care network with 24/7 Hospitalist & Intensivist programs, shared EMR-Epic, and great case mix and APP support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, plan, and treat patients with gastrointestinal health issues or injuries
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver timely, high-quality, customer-focused care
- Work in a robust specialty care network with 24/7 Hospitalist & Intensivist programs
- Participate in shared EMR-Epic and great case mix and APP support
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine with current license to practice medicine in the state of Illinois
- Board certified or eligible in Gastroenterology
- Active DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License, or ability to obtain
- Current CPR certification or specialty specific advanced life support (ACLS, ATLS, PALS) certification obtained through American Heart Association
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients, families, medical personnel, and other members of the healthcare team
- Current knowledge of evidence-based standards of medical care for specialty area
- Ability to perform effectively and efficiently under the pressure of stressful emergency situations
- Ability to prioritize patient care to support efficient patient flow in NCH facilities or NCH Medical Group offices
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and to assist in covering vacancies when necessary
