Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our Care Coach Connect team at Optum. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing patient care and supporting the needs of our Care Coach Connect Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of patient care activities, including clinical duties in patients' homes and office/clerical duties.
  • Organize the clinical environment and provide support in patient care situations.
  • Assist physicians and nursing personnel with procedures, including those listed under Job Functions.
  • Identify patient needs or problems and communicate data to the provider or other members of the clinical team.
  • Deliver quality customer service and ensure policy and procedures are followed, including infection control, privacy, and confidentiality.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or registration required or must obtain the designation within 90 days of employment hire date.
  • Current CPR certification or must obtain certification within 30 days of employment hire date.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations and assume a leadership role until higher level clinician can arrive on the scene.
  • Proven good communication and customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to be flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Ability to travel frequently within assigned market and reliable transportation for daily travel to various clinics as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant or a combination of 5+ years of non-certified medical assistant experience and certified medical assistant experience.
  • 1+ years of related experience in a medical setting.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push or pull heavy objects using up to 100 pounds of force.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use fine motor skills to operate equipment and/or machinery.
  • Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing.
  • Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving.
