Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Outpatient Coding Specialist to join our team at Jackson Hospital. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10-CM/CPT/HCPCS codes to patient encounters, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review patients' medical records to identify accurate coding opportunities
  • Work closely with Resource Management staff to promote specificity in physician documentation
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of ICD-10-CM/CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure accurate and efficient coding processes

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Health Information Management or equivalent coding experience
  • Five (5) years medical record coding experience
  • Credentialed in Health Information Management (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, COC, CPC, CCS-P)
  • Proficient in specialized computer software, including 3M Codefinder and ICD-10-CM/CPT Code Books

Working Conditions:

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary for utilizing PC and reviewing charts
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Verbal communication and hearing ability to communicate with customers
