Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Uplift Heights Preparatory. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our school facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform nightly custodial tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning restrooms
  • Remove trash and waste and place it into a dumpster or trash compactor
  • Maintain campus buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment by performing regular cleaning and maintenance
  • Assist with cafeteria dining area set up, including arranging tables and chairs for morning use
  • Routinely perform light maintenance tasks, such as unclogging toilets and drains, fixing restroom partitions, and performing maintenance on janitorial equipment
  • Perform non-routine cleaning tasks, including cleaning waste receptacles, washing windows, and pressure washing the building exterior
  • Deep clean tile, grout, carpet, LVT, VCT, and other flooring
  • Perform non-routine maintenance tasks, including stripping and waxing operations, painting classrooms and hallways, and changing light bulbs
  • Clean bodily fluids and disinfect surfaces
  • Notify school administration of any needed major repairs or equipment failure
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of storage, supply, and maintenance areas
  • Respond to emergency situations and report them to the Operations Director
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in the janitorial service industry or 2 years' experience in building maintenance
  • Experience working in a school environment preferred but not required
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical instructions
  • Ability to respond to and resolve common complaints
  • Ability to effectively present information to campus and central office management
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level is moderate and may have frequent interruptions. Work in a wide variety of environments as found in all areas of the school(s) and construction site, continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying.
