Job Summary

AHS Vista LLC is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Dietitian to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing patients with optimal nutritional care and educating medical professionals on the latest science of nutrition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Nutritional Assessments: Accurately formulate nutritional assessments and evaluate the appropriateness of diet based on physiologic and psychological needs, obtained from medical charts, patient interviews, laboratory data, and anthropometric measurements.
  • Documentation and Communication: Communicate recommendations to physicians via patient charts in a timely manner and accurately document changes in patients' nutritional status, tolerance, and/or nutrient intake.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and/or significant others on dietary needs, document completion of education, and patients' comprehension of information in patients' charts.
  • Quality Improvement: Perform continuous quality improvement functions as indicated by department programs and procedures.
  • Staff Education and Development: Organize in-services on nutrition for clinical dietetic staff, nursing staff, and/or medical staff, and develop or revise educational materials appropriate for the hospital patient population.
  • Screening and Assessment: Ensure screening, nutritional assessments, nutritional intervention, and competency for staff Registered Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians, diet office workers, and food service workers.
  • Menu and Recipe Development: Coordinate the diet office, menu/recipe system, and patient tray service.
  • Orientation and Training: Develop and initiate the orientation program for all new Food and Nutrition employees.
  • Committee Participation: Actively participate in committee initiatives, such as the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Ethics Committee, Discharge Planning, and Length of Stay.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain required department records (patient and/or other), reports, statistics, and files in accordance with established procedures.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the Director of Food Service as needed and maintain clinical policy and procedures.
  • Professional Development: Maintain Registered Dietitian designation through appropriate and pertinent continuing education.
Requirements
  • Education: Four-year bachelor's degree in dietetics/food and nutrition from an accredited program.
  • Registration: Current registration or registry eligible with the American Dietetic Association.
  • State Registration: Must be a registered dietitian in Illinois.
  • Experience: Minimum one year experience.
  • Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent personal and organizational skills, and good numerical ability.
