Campus Safety Monitor

Job Summary

Florence 1 Schools is seeking a dedicated and experienced Campus Safety Monitor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of students and campus, fostering an optimal learning environment, and acting as a deterrent to unsafe or poor behavior.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Patrol and monitor parking lots and school buildings during assigned work hours to protect against illegal entry, acts of violence, vandalism, illegal drug activity, arson, and theft.
  2. Conduct regular inspections of windows, doors, and other points of entry to ensure that they are secure.
  3. Patrol school grounds to observe unauthorized persons or vehicles, parking violations, and overall security of the outside area including exterior lighting and emergency access routes.
  4. Check identification of pupils, staff, and visitors entering the school.
  5. Participate in the district's/school's emergency and crisis management plan.
  6. Assist in supervision of students, parents, and adults at evening school-sponsored events when assigned.
  7. Establish and maintain contact with students in order to work with them in a cooperative manner.
  8. Develop and maintain daily communication with the administration, guidance department, and teachers.
  9. Refer to duty teacher or assistant principal those students who fail to comply with school rules.
  10. Escort students to the office as directed.
  11. Continuously monitor school security cameras during assigned work hours.
  12. Intervene in student confrontations.
  13. Participate in required training.
  14. Participate in faculty meetings as needed.
  15. Record all observations and conditions and report unusual occurrences or property damage immediately to superiors and document rule violations.
  16. Submit written reports of all incidents of vandalism, violence, illegal drug activity, and security violations.
  17. Manage traffic concerns.
  18. Supervise student lunch periods on a daily basis.
  19. Be present in assigned areas of the building(s) and/or campus to assist in maintaining order.
  20. Patrol all District property during the summer months when school is not in session.
  21. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid South Carolina driver's license is also required.
  • The successful candidate must have a clean driving record and good moral character.
  • Experience in law enforcement or as a security officer is highly preferred.
  • The ability to provide a positive role model for pupils and demonstrate good physical health is essential.
  • Knowledge of security measures and crowd control is also required.
Compensation

The salary for this position is approximately $35,000-$45,000 per year, depending on experience. A benefits package is also included.
