Pediatric Unit Support Associate

At Children's National, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patient Care Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our pediatric unit, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain patient safety through environmental sweeps and checklists
- Adhere to pediatric safety principles through the use of handrails, seat belts, and direct observation
- Never leave patients unattended and intervene quickly to calm, redirect, or reorient patients as needed
- Accompany patients for procedures off the unit and engage in distracting, age-appropriate activities to promote patient well-being
- Reinforce positive behavior and assist with activities of daily living, including washing, toileting, position changes, and meal assistance
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by keeping rooms tidy, monitoring common areas for cleanliness, and reporting safety hazards to staff
- Effective communication with other staff members is crucial, so please report pertinent patient information, call for assistance when needed, and maintain regular communication with RNs
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Basic computer skills preferred
- Knowledge of child development preferred
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification required
