Cost Estimator for Residential Construction Projects

Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Cost Estimator for Residential Construction Projects to join our team. As a key member of our Purchasing department, you will play a critical role in accurately estimating costs associated with products in both development and construction phases.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Cost Analysis: Optimize option costs, minimize direct costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings through rigorous analysis and research.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with the Director of Construction and Purchasing Manager to build and foster a world-class trade partner base that offers industry-leading innovation and design.
- Negotiation and Contracting: Recruit, develop, and negotiate contracts with new vendor partners, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
- Process Improvement: Continuously challenge and validate existing takeoffs to ensure variance objectives are met, identifying opportunities for enhancing processes and discovering more cost-effective methods and materials.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Construction and Finance functions to identify and minimize variances, ensuring seamless project execution.
- Estimation and Reporting: Estimate cost of construction for new products, including accurate take-offs, via compiling material and labor unit price takeoffs, and performing other estimates. Create and revise as needed the description of materials and Addendum A's.
- Education: 4-year college degree in Construction Management or Supply Chain Logistics preferred, or equivalent experience in construction and purchasing in the residential construction industry.
- Experience: 3+ years progressive experience in purchasing, with a focus on cost estimation and analysis.
- Skills: Knowledgeable about the construction industry, including construction costs, building codes, materials, products, methods, and procedures. Proficient in using word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, presentation software, and database applications.
We offer a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, based on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
