Geriatric Mental Health Specialist

Vaya Health is seeking a highly skilled Geriatric Mental Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Geriatric and Adult Mental Health Specialty Team, you will play a critical role in providing training, consultation, and technical assistance to community organizations and staff of nursing homes, adult care homes, and family care homes serving adults with mental illness.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and teach evidence-informed presentations about mental illnesses and how to manage difficult behaviors to community agencies.
- Provide education and linkage to services for caregivers of older adults who are providing care in the community.
- Collaborate with team members to provide case consultation, training, and technical assistance to staff and volunteers.
- Assist staff in assessing behaviors and developing intervention plans.
- Represent Vaya Health in a professional manner and participate in community workgroups to enhance the community's ability to provide service/care for older adults.
- Master's degree in a field related to health, psychology, sociology, social work, or another relevant human services area.
- At least 2 years of experience working with the population served, including experience serving older adults with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
- Active, unrestricted North Carolina licensure in behavioral health (e.g., LCMHC, LCSW, LMFT, LPA, LCAS).
This is a full-time position that requires the ability to drive and sit for extended periods of time. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, superior organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize to manage multiple projects on tight timelines.
