Bakery Team Lead

The Bakery Associate Team Leader is responsible for assisting the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects. This role involves leading and developing Team Members, ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times.
Key Responsibilities- Store Layout and Merchandising: Develop and maintain creative store layouts and product merchandising to drive sales and customer engagement.
- Sales and Labor Targets: Work with the Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets, analyzing sales reports and labor data to inform decision-making.
- Product Knowledge and Awareness: Demonstrate advanced product knowledge and stay up-to-date on new products, maintaining awareness of customer preferences and needs.
- Vendor Relationships: Maintain good vendor relationships, develop new vendor connections, and ensure timely paperwork submission for vendor processing.
- Team Leadership: Work with the Team Leader to resolve team concerns, function as a point person in the absence of the Team Leader, and foster a positive team environment.
- Customer Service: Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing Team Members to satisfy and delight customers, and responding promptly to customer inquiries.
- Team Member Development: Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members to sustain a high-performance team and minimize turnover.
- Performance Evaluations: Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations to support Team Member growth and development.
- High Energy and Enthusiasm: Demonstrate high energy, enthusiasm, and an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy.
- Growth Mindset: Exhibit a growth mindset towards greater responsibility and ownership, with a desire to coach and mentor others for growth.
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills, with the ability to teach others in a positive and constructive manner.
- Product Knowledge: Have thorough product knowledge and advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
- Mathematical Skills: Possess proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrate decision-making ability, leadership skills, and the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
Requires 18+ months of retail Team Member experience and 6+ months of supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
- May require use of ladders.
