Job Information

State of Tennessee is seeking a highly skilled Public Health Laboratory Consultant to join our team. This is a full-time position located in Nashville, TN.

Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate information to determine compliance with standards, ensuring quality control guidelines are met and confidentiality of patient information is maintained.
  2. Process information by compiling, calculating, categorizing, and verifying data for appropriateness, and preparing records and reports to meet division needs.
  3. Analyze data by interpreting results of sample testing, analyzing QA/QC data, and identifying areas for improvement.
  4. Provide consultation and advice to others, advising upper management on SOPs, best practices, and workflow factors to inform strategy development and decision making.
  5. Develop procedures independently for implementing new or modifying existing laboratory programs and activities, and assist in developing, implementing, and enforcing major policies and procedures.

Requirements

  1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in physical sciences, ecology, life sciences, medical laboratory science, pre-medicine, or other acceptable science.
  2. Three years of full-time professional work in the related field, or successful completion of an accredited medical laboratory scientist program.
  3. Valid motor vehicle operator's license throughout the duration of employment.

Working Conditions

The Public Health Laboratory Consultant will work in a laboratory setting, performing routine consultant work of unusual difficulty, supervisory work of unusual difficulty, and other tasks as required. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
