About the Role:



We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our Oncology team at MSPCA-Angell. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and providing a supportive environment for our clients.



Responsibilities:



  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with medical procedures, including phlebotomy and chemotherapy administration
  • Provide exceptional patient care, ensuring the comfort and safety of our furry friends
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing clear updates on their pet's treatment and progress
  • Promote a positive and supportive team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve our goals
  • Participate in daily rounds to review patient treatment plans and provide input on care
  • Develop strong bonds with clients, providing emotional support and guidance throughout their pet's treatment
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical procedures and technologies, attending continuing education lectures and workshops as needed


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Technician in a busy animal clinic or hospital
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
