Quality Assurance Specialist

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team at a growing 60-year-old Tier 1 company manufacturing highly engineered magnesium and aluminum parts for OEM electric and fuel powered vehicles.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and developing a team engaged in quality control activities in coordination with Launch Engineering. They will also ensure that systems and processes are in place to achieve or exceed key goals in product/launch quality and customer service.
The Quality Engineer will interact with site customer quality engineering, product engineering, and manufacturing staff to execute the quality control system for new product launches.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field and 5+ years of progressive work experience in Quality Engineering in a manufacturing environment. Experience in the Automotive industry and/or die cast industry is highly desired.
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for participating in assigned work groups, ensuring systems and processes are in place to achieve or exceed key metrics/targets/goals in quality engineering/controls, costs, budgets, safety, and customer service.
They will also manage all quality events regarding purchased components, review all supplier assembly component tooling run-off's, and review all quality specifications, APQP documentation, and PPAP submissions.
The Quality Engineer will work with cross-functional technical teams in the development of quote proposals for new business opportunities and support launches until a successful 'hand-off' is agreed upon with customer quality engineering.
They will also support the Company's New Product Review process (NPR) for the launch of new products and develop working relationships with customers, suppliers, and other key external contacts.
The Quality Engineer will incorporate lean and continuous improvement concepts in work activities and projects and promote productive relationships and a positive work environment.
They will set expectations, clarify responsibilities, and provide feedback for team members in accomplishing tasks and goals and build and maintain teamwork within the team and within the plant.
The Quality Engineer will resolve conflicts between team members and with other teams and facilitate in maintaining positive team member relations and morale.
They will carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, applicable laws, and Core Operating Values.
Key Responsibilities:

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive work experience in Quality Engineering in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the Automotive industry and/or die cast industry is highly desired.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing and CNC machining processes.
- CMM experience.
- Experience in Automotive Quality Requirements IATF16949 / TS16949 / QS9000 is highly desired.
- Skilled in PPAP and APQP.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance techniques with an emphasis on Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and manage projects to successful completion.
- Advanced computer software understanding to create, use, and manipulate reports, word processing, spreadsheet, etc. (e.g. Microsoft Office, SQC Pack).
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of quality control and quality assurance practices & statistical methods.
