High-Performance Transmission Planning Professional

We are seeking an exceptional High-Performance Transmission Planning Professional to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. As a key member of our engineering staff, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of electric power transmission.
About the RoleAs a Transmission Planning Consultant, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive transmission planning strategies that optimize grid performance and ensure reliable delivery of electricity to communities across the country.
You will work closely with our experienced team of engineers, consultants, and project managers to perform a wide range of studies and consulting services, including:
- Transmission System Planning Studies: Utilize industry-leading software to analyze and develop optimal transmission system designs that meet regulatory requirements and minimize costs.
- Grid Performance Analysis: Evaluate the current state of the grid and identify opportunities to improve its performance, efficiency, and reliability.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with plant retirements, renewable integration, and other emerging challenges facing the grid.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Relevant Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in transmission planning, grid operations, or a related field.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in industry-standard software, such as PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, and Promod.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership skills, with the ability to lead teams, manage projects, and drive results.
We offer a competitive compensation package, including a base salary of $127,000 - $167,000 per year, plus eligibility for our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program. You will also have access to our comprehensive benefits package, which includes health insurance, disability coverage, time off, wellness programs, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which provides a stake in the company's success.
