Job Title: Compassionate Home Support Specialist

 

About the Job

The Compassionate Home Support Specialist assists individuals with difficulty performing daily activities, such as the elderly, people with disabilities, or those suffering from chronic conditions. The goal is to provide a sense of independence and support in the consumer's residence.


Key Responsibilities
  • • Assist consumers with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside.

    • Provide personal care and hygiene support.

    • Help consumers with physical therapy exercises.

    • Plan and prepare meals with assistance from consumers when possible.

    • Assist consumers with shopping.

    • Perform light housekeeping duties that consumers cannot complete on their own.

    • Offer pleasant and supportive companionship.

    • Report any unusual incidents, negligence, or abuse.

    • Act quickly and responsibly in emergency situations.

    • Perform other duties assigned by the In-Home Care Coordinator.

 

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently while meeting deadlines. You should also be familiar with aging, illness, chronic, and congenital conditions affecting health, maintain confidentiality, and develop cooperative relationships with consumers, families, co-workers, and referral sources.


Credentials and Professional Qualities

Upon hiring, you will need to complete caregiver training approved by Medicaid. It is essential to accept our organization's mission, philosophy, and goals. Additionally, you should be able to work effectively with individuals to achieve common goals.


Physical Requirements

This job may require physical demands based on consumer needs. Occasional bending at the waist and lifting more than 50 pounds may be necessary, but exceptions can be made according to consumer plans of care.
