Patient Care Technician

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Patient Care Tech to join our team in Brighton, Massachusetts.
Job SummaryUnder the direction of a registered/licensed nurse (RN), the Patient Care Tech will assist in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out patient care plans as directed by Registered Nurse.
- Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, per established guidelines.
- Assist patients with positioning, lifting, and turning, and use adaptive and transfer equipment per established guidelines.
- Perform patient monitoring activities, such as vital signs and blood glucose, per established guidelines.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with meeting their needs.
- Perform patient rounds regularly and answer call lights promptly to meet patients' needs.
- Document patient care in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.
- Organize patient room clutter to maintain a clean environment.
- Obtain and label specimens consistent with established procedures.
- Mentor and teach new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required, unless candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a Nursing, Pre-Med, or Physician Assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire, or possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT-accredited program at the time of hire.
This role requires standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands requiring fine motor skills and sense of touch. The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds is also required.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations. The ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail is essential.
This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality is also required.
