Child Life Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at LifeSpan. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing therapeutic medical preparation, supervising and directing age-appropriate therapeutic play experiences, and implementing a comprehensive assessment and plan of care to alleviate anxiety and promote a sense of normalcy for pediatric patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Assess the developmental, psychosocial, and intellectual needs of pediatric patients to plan and direct a therapeutic program that reduces stress, anxiety, and fear associated with illness and hospitalization.
- Provide psychosocially and developmentally appropriate support to children and families, empowering them to develop and use advocacy skills.
- Facilitate preparation for challenging situations, minimize fear and anxiety, and promote proficiency in the patient's experience.
- Evaluate and document assessment goals, interventions, outcomes, and significant events to communicate and modify care plans as necessary.
- Function as a member of the healthcare team, promoting professional relationships and collaboration to enhance communication and foster family-centered care.
- Association of Child Life Professionals verified internship hours (minimum 600 hours).
- Bachelor's degree in child life, child development, or a closely related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Certified Child Life Specialist by the Association of Child Life Professionals (or completion within one year of hire).
- Completion of Child Life Professional internship with one year experience working with children required; professional child life experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
