Clinical Nurse Preceptor

As a Clinical Nurse Preceptor at the Detroit Medical Center, you will play a vital part in the development of our nursing staff. Your role will involve instructing, counseling, and monitoring nursing personnel during their orientation to our hospital or unit. You will work closely with the Nurse Educator to plan and structure the orientation program, ensuring that it meets the individual needs of each orientee.
Responsibilities
- Instructs and counsels nursing orientees on clinical nursing aspects relative to assigned areas
- Collaborates with Nurse Educator to plan and implement orientation programs
- Performs ongoing assessment and regular formal evaluations of nursing staff during the orientation period
- Documents all observations and submits recommendations to supervisor
Requirements
- BSN degree or enrollment/documented intent to complete within two years
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan
- Two years of experience in area of clinical specialty as a staff nurse
