Project Accounting Specialist Role

We are seeking a skilled Project Accounting Specialist to join our team at The Boldt Company. This individual will be responsible for managing project finances, ensuring timely and accurate billing, and maintaining compliance with company policies.

About the Job

The Project Accounting Specialist II- Construction role is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for finance and construction to grow their careers. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with project managers, accounting teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless financial operations.

In this role, you will have the chance to develop your skills in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, while also gaining experience in working with various software applications and systems.

We offer a competitive salary of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage project finances, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing, including reviewing and submitting customer billings, reconciling quantities and amounts, and confirming sales tax rates and calculations.
  • Assist in the setup and close-out of jobs in the accounting system, entry of information relevant to accounts payable, billing, and payroll duties, and assembling cost transaction documentation for billings.
  • Prepare customer billings with their format, frequency, charges, and rates consistent with requirements identified in the customer contract agreement.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors on the timely submission of payment applications to be included in customer billing and on ensuring provided documentation aligns with customer requirements.
  • Support project controls personnel in the administration and entry of labor billing rates that are set up by customer or project.
Requirements
  • An associate degree in accounting is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related construction project accounting experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of construction project accounting principles and processes for accounts payable, customer billings, and payroll timesheets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; and skilled in Adobe or Bluebeam PDF software.
