Compensation: The estimated annual salary for this position is $65,000 - $90,000, depending on experience. This HR Specialist opportunity in Houston, Texas, seeks to attract detail-oriented individuals with excellent organizational skills. As the first point of contact for employees and managers on HR-related issues, you will work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
About the Role
- Employee Relations: You will act as the primary liaison between employees and management, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures, investigating employee concerns and grievances, and ensuring fair and consistent resolutions in compliance with legal standards and company policies.
- Performance Management: You will assist managers through the performance appraisal process, including goal setting, coaching, feedback, and performance improvement plans. This involves developing tools to monitor and assess individual and team performance, as well as providing day-to-day performance management guidance to management.
- Change Management: In supporting organizational change efforts, such as restructuring, mergers, and acquisitions, you will assist in developing communication and training programs to help employees transition effectively through changes.
- Compliance and Risk Management: You will assist in ensuring that HR policies and procedures comply with federal, state, and local employment laws, maintaining an in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Training and Development: You will identify training needs and collaborate with our Quality department to design and implement programs that enhance employee skills and leadership capabilities.
- Compensation and Benefits Consultation: You will provide advice and support to managers on employee recognition programs and benefit offerings to ensure competitive and fair employee rewards.
Requirements and Qualifications
- You should possess a Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field, preferred. A minimum of 3 years of HR experience, including at least 1 year as an HR Specialist or in a related HR role, is required.
- You must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software and able to quickly learn HRIS and other related computer applications. Strong understanding of HR practices, employment law, and organizational dynamics is essential.
