About the Position
The Port of Tacoma seeks a skilled Procurement Specialist to support contracting and procurement activities across the organization. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and competitive pay. The successful candidate will provide backup to the Contracts & Procurement Analyst, including preparation of solicitation documents and managing procurement activities. Key responsibilities include coordinating the solicitation process, serving as the point-of-contact for information requests, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly supports the organization's contracting and procurement activities by coordinating the execution of solicitation activities.
  • Provides support and guidance to the organization in all functional areas of contract administration, ensuring compliance with Port resolutions, policies, and applicable procedures.
  • Serves as the department focal point for all Contracts & Purchasing technology and web content on the Port's internal and external websites.
  • Participates in teams to enhance business processes within the Port.
  • Reviews contract invoices, identifies missing information required for payment processing, and routes for approval.

Required Qualifications
An associate's degree in business, accounting, or an applicable discipline is required. Two years' experience providing complex technical support to one or more functional areas of contracting, procurement, or other business support organizations is also necessary. Strong knowledge of procurement processes, procedures, and contract law is essential. Additionally, proficiency in desktop software packages, including Microsoft Office Suite 2003 or newer, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems like Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is required. Excellent communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills are crucial for this role.
