Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to join Western Digital, a leader in digital storage solutions compatible with Mac and PC. This is a hybrid work environment with 3 days in office.

About the Role

The CISO will be a key leadership position responsible for establishing and executing the company's information security strategy, ensuring that information assets and systems are secure. The CISO will work with executive management to determine acceptable levels of risk for the organization and ensure that information security is both a business enabler and a protector.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive information security strategy aligned with business objectives and recognized best practices.
  • Oversee the information security organization, focusing on the effectiveness of security controls and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, IT teams, and stakeholders to identify security risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Promote information security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends to enhance the company's security posture.
  • Manage security incidents, including containment, communication, and coordination across business functions.
  • Conduct regular security assessments to identify gaps and ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership and the board of directors on information security initiatives and compliance efforts.
  • Foster a culture of security awareness and accountability through training and employee engagement activities.
  • Lead a high-performing team of security professionals.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as an Information Security executive leader in a substantial enterprise, preferably in high-tech or manufacturing with global operations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • A strong track record of presenting to and interacting with senior executive leaders and company boards.
  • Calm poise and ability to act competently in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or similar; advanced degree preferred.

The estimated salary for this role is $180,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on experience.
